Worried about the economy? Not sure what’s going to happen? Well, take solace in the fact that you are getting some help this year from the government! In this article about the new stimulus on cnn.com, I found the following excerpt:
“Car buyers: Anyone who buys a new car in 2009 gets to deduct the sales tax. To qualify, buyer must make less than $125,000 individually or $250,000 jointly.” (source: cnn.com)
Sounds like a great time to buy a car! I have my own plans for a JCW later this year…
Why is this rebate only for the people who make $125,000? That is stupid. Don’t people who make less need help also and aren’t they the biggest part of our economy? Stupid.. I had such hopes!
Nice blog, almost iWeb-ish but I see it’s a WP blog.
OOPS…. I didn’t read that improperly… It’s still stupid! Ain’t it supposed to be a “Stimulus” Package? Wouldn’t that help stimulate those folks also?
thanks! well, since 85% of statistics are made-up on the spot, I am going to venture that 80%-90% of the people that spend money in our economy are in the middle class…that is, the people that will/do make less than $125,000. Perhaps even more. I wouldn’t be surprised. In fact, the new stimulus also includes tax breaks, which helps the people in the $125,000+ bracket, but does not do as much for the middle class. Only time will tell if it works, history has proven that tax breaks typically don’t work for the middle class. Hopefully this “multi-prong” approach will help spur on some spending. The economy is only as bad as people think it is. Remember…wall street is driven by feelings and hunches!
But enough politics! I try to stay away from those topics as much as possible. Thanks for commenting and visiting! Tell all your friends
